Dr. Maria Montessori was one of the first educators to recognize that the first few years (0-3 years) of a child’s life are critical to the development of personality and intellect. At this age, children are eager to explore and learn from their environment. The learning is effortless and is optimized in a carefully prepared environment.
The Youngest Children’s Community is designed to meet the needs of children from 12 months of age to 3 years. In a nurturing, carefully prepared environment, a certified Montessori Guide fosters the development of gross and fine motor skills, independence, language and creative expression. The young child’s sense of confidence and self esteem are cultivated within a community through communal activities such as care of environment, care of self, food preparation, table setting and other activities that support age appropriate development. These early years of learning are protected and nurtured by being aware that the child’s first contacts would impact the rest of the child’s life.
The Youngest Children’s Community serves the needs of children less than 3 years of age. The Guide gives the children responsive and individualized attention to help them build their skills in these areas:
Care of Self
Care of Environment
Language Development and Expression
Creative Expression
Fine and Gross Motor Skills
Social and Emotional Development
